We are the Knee Team of Hospital del Trabajador, ACHS Salud, in Santiago, Chile, a national referral centre for orthopaedics and trauma. The hospital opened in 1971. We treat traumatic, sports-related and degenerative knee conditions, from assessment and surgical planning through to follow-up after surgery.

We perform an average of 2,749 knee operations a year, 13,745 over the last five years. We specialise in complex ligament surgery, including multiligament reconstruction, and also perform osteotomies around the knee, periarticular fracture surgery, and primary and revision arthroplasty. The hospital holds DNV certification in hip and knee replacement.

We train specialists. The hospital has run an Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery residency since 2012. Our one-year knee fellowship is offered with Universidad Andrés Bello and with Universidad de los Andes. SLARD recognises Hospital del Trabajador as a Training Centre for two- to three-month visiting fellowships, and the hospital is an AO Trauma Fellowship host centre (AO Foundation).

In 2024, Hospital del Trabajador's professionals published 47 articles in scientific journals. We hold clinical teaching agreements with 15 academic institutions and collaborate with international research organisations.
